JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Nursing Scheduler/CNA
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides quality-nursing care to residents. Assists residents with the activities of daily living as specified on
individual resident care plans and assignment sheets according to established policies, procedures and
objectives of the facility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum of 16 years of age.
2. Two years of high school or equivalent.
3. Certified as a CNA in the state of Illinois or the ability to be certified within 120 days.
4. Ability to read, write and understand English.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to lift and transfer residents weighing an average of 150 pounds, with or without assistance,
on a frequent basis.
2. Pushes residents in wheelchairs or geri-chairs to various areas of the facility.
3. Frequently twists, stoops, bends, squats, kneels and reaches above or below shoulder height.
4. Ability to work a full shift on one's feet.
5. Frequently lifts and carriers equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds.
6. Communicates orally and/or in writing with residents, co-workers, families and the public.
POTENTIAL EXPOSURE TO BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS:
This position is a Category I position. Tasks may involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue, requiring
the use of personal protective equipment. Gloves should be worn for any contact with blood or body/tissues.
Gowns and masks or eye coverings may be needed if it is likely that soiling of clothing or splattering of blood
may occur.
POTENTIAL EXPOSURE TO WORKPLACE VIOLENCE:
CATEGORY 4: VERY HIGH RISK. TASKS THAT HAVE A HIGH POSSIBILITY OF COMING
INTO CONTACT WITH A VIOLENT PERSON OR SITUATION BUT EMPLOYMENT MAY REQUIRE
PERFORMING UNPLANNED CATEGORY 4 TASKS.
The normal work routine involves a very high possibility of coming into contact with a violent person or
situation at least once per shift, if not more often however, contact or potential contact at some time may be
required as a condition of employment.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
1. Frequent exposure to blood/body fluids as required to perform personal care for residents.
2. Continuous exposure to hazardous chemicals such as disinfectants, cleaners, soap, etc. as identified
by the facilities MSDS manual.
3. Continuous exposure to latex, tyvex, plastics and/or materials which are used for personal protective
equipment.
4. Occasional exposure to bodily injuries due to unpredictable behaviors of residents.
5. Occasional exposure to load and unpleasant noises due to unpredictable behaviors of residents.
6. Occasional exposure to unpleasant odors as related to care of incontinent residents.
7. Some exposure to wet floors.
8. Frequent exposure to injuries associated with lifting.

JOB ANALYSIS (functions as a C.N.A)
1. Performs and documents resident care delivery as specified on care plan, individualized
assignments, bath schedules, nutrition, ambulation schedules etc.
2. Monitors and meets resident needs consistent with quality nursing procedures such as bathing,
transferring, eating assistance, etc.
3. Observes and reports physical and/or behavioral changes in residents.
4. Reports observations and suggestions promptly, accurately and precisely.
5. Properly uses and cares for equipment and supplies.
6. Works cooperatively and productively with co-workers.
7. Responds rapidly and appropriately to emergencies involving resident and co-worker safety.
8. Make beds as assigned.
9. Assists in orienting residents to the facility environment and routines upon admission and as needed
through their stay.
10. Receive shift report from nurse on a timely basis.
11. Answers all call lights and resident requests in a timely manner.
12. Helps keep resident belongings and equipment clean.
13. Passes ice water as assigned.
14. Ask for assistance and provides assistance for transfers involving two or more staff.
15. Performs cleaning duties as assigned.
JOB ANALYSIS: (functions as nursing scheduler and supplies)
1. Filling out the daily schedule. Distribute to units, post on time clock bulletin board and give to
Receptionist.
2. Updating schedule on the units, time clock bulletin board and the Receptionist.
3. Calling Flex Nurses and C.N.A's when needed.
4. Calling agencies and covering all open shifts.
5. Updating monthly schedule.
6. Checking all bills for accuracy and then coding them for payment.
7. Updating staffing and agency usage sheet daily.
8. Daily checks on concentrator stock, pulling equipment out of rooms, cleaning and calling for pick ups
or deliveries of supplies. Track oxygen use on a daily basis.
9. Daily assignments per shift, weekly.
10. Monthly schedules updates and out on the floor.
11. Updating and creating new forms for the nursing department.
12. Ordering of all nursing supplies.
13. Pyxis input, adding and deleting residents.
14. Stocking Pyxis machine daily, training new staff on how to use.
15. Yearly inventory count of medical supplies.
16. Checking activity use for the Pyxis daily.
17. Calling for supplies that have not arrived at the facility, keeping inventory call for comparison pricing.
18. Assists HR Coordinator with Nursing Department payroll.
19. Keeping medical supply budget on track.
20. Working as a C.N.A. on the floor as needed.
21. Keeping the nurse and phone list updated.
22. Other duties and projects as directed by DON.

1. Adhere to federal and state regulations governing long term care.
2. Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance and adhere to the dress code of the position.
3. Comply with infection control guidelines and follow universal precautions and isolation procedures.
4. Must be knowledgeable of Provena Pine View Care Center's fire and safety procedures.
5. Project a positive image when dealing with residents, co-workers, families and the public.
6. Attend all mandatory inservices.
7. Work cooperatively with co-workers and other departments.
